The short version: Griffin Vault stores your data privately in your own iCloud account. We never see your documents, contacts, or any personal information. We collect no analytics and have no advertising. You are in full control.

Who we are

Griffin Vault is developed and maintained by Saad Rodriguez, an independent developer. This Privacy Policy explains how the Griffin Vault app (available on iPhone, iPad and Mac) handles your data.

If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at saad.rodriguez@icloud.com.

Data we do not collect

We want to be clear about what we do not do:

How your data is stored

All data you create in Griffin Vault — including documents, contacts, folders, tags, and settings — is stored exclusively in two places:

We have no access to your iCloud account or the data it contains. Apple's own Privacy Policy governs how iCloud data is handled by Apple.

Device permissions

Griffin Vault requests the following device permissions, each used only for the specific purpose described:

All permissions are optional where technically possible. The app will prompt you before requesting any permission. You can revoke permissions at any time in Settings.

Document scanning and OCR

When you scan a document, the image is captured by your device camera and processed entirely on-device using Apple's Vision framework. No image or extracted text is transmitted to any external server. The resulting document is stored only in your local Griffin Vault database and, if iCloud sync is enabled, in your private iCloud account.

Contacts

Griffin Vault has its own internal contacts database, separate from your system address book. We do not access your device's Contacts app or system address book. Any contacts you create within Griffin Vault are stored solely in your Griffin Vault database.

Label printing

Label templates and print data are stored locally on your device. When you send a print job, it is handled directly by your device's print system (AirPrint or a connected printer). No print data is transmitted to us or to any third-party service.

Spotlight and Handoff

Griffin Vault integrates with Apple's Spotlight search and Handoff features to improve your experience across devices. This integration is handled entirely by Apple's operating system and no data is shared with us through these features.

Children's privacy

Griffin Vault is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will address the matter promptly.

Data retention and deletion

Because we do not collect or store your data on our own servers, we have no data to delete on our end. Your data lives entirely in your iCloud account and on your devices.

Security

Griffin Vault uses Apple's SwiftData and CloudKit frameworks, which apply encryption at rest and in transit. On-device data is protected by your device's hardware encryption. iCloud data is encrypted by Apple using industry-standard protocols.

Additionally, Griffin Vault provides an optional biometric lock (Face ID or Touch ID) and a privacy screen that hides content when the app is in the background.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through an in-app notice. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
